Droopy eyelids or puffy bags below your eyes can cause you to look more tired than you feel. In search of a solution to the extra skin around your eyes? Explore your options for droopy eyelid treatment!
What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is the medical term for a surgical droopy eyelid treatment. Droopy eyelids can be caused by either age or genetics. As the skin ages, it can stretch, causing extra skin around the eyelids. Genetics can also play a role in this, as some people are predisposed to the condition.
This surgical treatment can help your face appear more alert and younger—taking up to 10 years off of your eyes. And, best of all, it’s one of the most effective treatments for droopy eyelids!
How Does It Work?
At APSA, we typically treat droopy eyelids with blepharoplasty. The procedure can be targeted for a combination of lower and/or upper eyelid problems, removing the excess skin and fat that cause sagging on both the upper and lower eyelids.
Dr. Lazarus makes the incisions along the natural creases of eyelids so that there won’t be visible scarring after the procedure. The procedure and recovery time will vary by patient, but the surgery generally lasts from one to three hours with full recovery taking up to two weeks.
